On the eve of perfection

tremble with anticipation
            a lover’s first kiss
tense
            at grandson’s stumble
smirk
            at a bad joke
breathe heavily, heart racing
            before the test
sob in pain
cry with joy.

The new day comes
tremble
tense
smirk
heart pounding
weep.

Now know
all is perfect.
